Several new feature enhancements are included in the product update released in early February 2022. The major enhancements in this release include improvements to simulation patients, new ability to manage access through IP address range, new filter on the Progress Summary for Students page, and new user role permission that allows you to submit an appointment request on behalf of a provider.
Improvements to simulation patients
Several changes have been made to the simulation patient function (Settings > Patient Care > Simulation Patients):
-
We have added a (new) Delete simulation patients user role permission that allows users to delete simulation patient records on the Simulation Patients page. If you have the user role permission set, a (new) Delete button displays on the page.

You can now delete single, multiple, or all simulation patient records by selecting the appropriate check box(es) and then clickingtapping Delete. A Delete window displays to confirm you do want to delete the selected record(s).

Once deleted, the patients' records and appointments don't display in the system, and can't be located and accessed in axiUm Ascend. Also, the deletion is audited in the Audit Log (Home > Reports > Audit Log) with a SIM label beside the patient's name.

Important:
-
If you have the Delete simulation patient user role permission set but don't have the Create simulation patients, you still have access to the simulation patient function and can access the Simulation Patients page. However, you can only delete the records and can't create or copy simulation patients.
-
You can't delete simulation patient templates. However, you can delete simulation patient records created from simulation patient templates.
-
The Delete simulation patient user role permission will be set automatically for the Administrator user role type on 4 February 2022. If the ability to delete simulation patient records is unnecessary, it's recommended to manually remove it from the user role.
-
-
Simulation patient records on the Simulation Patients page are now interactable. You can select it to navigate to the patient's Patient Information page (Patient > General > Patient Information). You can also select and deselect the check boxes to select one, multiple, or all simulation patient records.
Tip: Now that we have added the ability to delete simulation patients, we recommend users start experimenting with the simulation patients in their clinics to aid in the education of year 1 and 2 students who are not working with real patients yet. Following this release, we will be working on adding the ability to create simulation patients in bulk to enable clinics to fully make use of this feature.
New ability to manage access through IP address range
Previously, users could only manage access to axiUm Ascend by listing individual IP addresses on the Basic info tab of the Location Information page (Settings > Location > Location Information). As this method is very time-consuming when you have a wide range of IP addresses, we added a (new) Add IP range link that allows you to manage access through a range of IP addresses.

This allows you to use a combination of both IP ranges and single IP addresses to manage access to axiUm Ascend more efficiently.
To add an IP address range, clicktap the link to add a new row to the list of External static IP addresses.

The IP range row behaves like a new IP address row, and will require validation to add it.
New filter on the Progress Summary for Students page
We have added a new filter on the Progress Summary for Students page (Academic > Student Progress) that allows users to filter the student list by their assigned user group(s).

This allows you to review students within user group(s) you're responsible for without having to search for them individually. When used, any student(s) that don't belong to the select group(s) won't display on the list.
You can clicktap the
icon to select which user group(s) you want to filter by on the generated Students Filter window.

When you navigate away from the page or logout of the system, the filter resets to All, its default setting.
New user role permission that allows you to submit an appointment request on behalf of a provider
Previously, users could only submit an appointment request (Schedule > Calendar) for themselves if they were a provider. Now, you can submit an appointment request for any provider if you have the (new) Create appointment request for other providers set, even if you're a non-provider. Once set, the Appointment provider field on the Appointment Information panel is enabled, allowing you to select any provider for the appointment request.
Note: If you also have the Manage Appointments user role permission set, you can't submit an appointment request, even if you have Create appointment request for other providers user role permission set. As you can only submit a request if you don't have the Manage Appointments permission, you can only create appointments if you have it.
Consent message's character limit extended for longer text
We have extended the maximum character limit of procedure's consent messages (Settings > Production > Consent Messages) to 3000 characters. This allows users to write a more detailed and longer message than before. The 3000 characters limit applies to both general and procedure-specific consent messages.
Insurance eligibility checks aren't working
Issue: When users review the patients listed on the Insurance Eligibility page > Eligible tab, the list only displays patients that were verified manually.
Solution: Fixed so the electronic insurance eligibility checks work as expected.
The Complete All button on the Patient Routing panel is enabled when it shouldn't
Issue: When student providers that have the Require approval to post procedures user role permission set use the Patient Routing panel to view appointments in Chair, the Complete All button is enabled.
Solution: Fixed so the button is disabled as expected.
Day Sheet report with large data takes a long time to load
Issue: When administrators generate a Day Sheet report with a long date range, for example a year, it takes a long time for the report to load.
Solution: Fixed so the report loads quickly as expected.
