Several new feature enhancements are included in the product update released in early October 2020. The major enhancements in this release include new Event records on the Audit Log, improvements on the Recare Management report, improvements to the Overview page, and improvements on the Provider Dashboard.
New Event records on the Audit Log
Previously, events were not audited on the Audit Log (Home > Reports > Audit Log). Now, the creation, modification, and deletion of events are audited accordingly:
-
When users create, update, or delete a single event or a single instance of a recurring event, the following is recorded in a single audit log:
-
Date/Time - Displays date and time of the action.
-
User - Displays the username of the user that performed the action.
-
Location - Displays the location that user was logged into when they created, updated, or deleted the event.
-
Type - Displays Event.
Note: We have created a (new) Event type that clearly labels the audit log as associated with an event.
-
Patient - Displays no data as events are not associated with a patient.
-
Action - Displays as Create, Update, or Delete.
-
Details - Displays [Name of event] for provider [provider's name], [operatory] / provider group [name of provider group], [operatory] / [name of operatory group] from [event's start date and time] until [event's end date and time] was created/updated/deleted..
Example: Andy needs to create a 1-hour event for himself on January 21st, 2021 10AM at operatory 201A. He set the title of the event as "Hourly Meeting" and created the event. The audit log's detail will display as "Hourly Meeting for provider Andy, operatory 201A from 10:00AM until 11:00AM on 01/21/2021 was created."
Important: If the event was created without an operatory or provider, it's not included in the audit log.
-
-
When users create, update, or delete a group event or recurring events, the following is recorded in a single audit log:
-
Date/Time - Displays date and time of the action.
-
User - Displays the username of the user that performed the action.
-
Location - Displays the location that user was logged into when they created, updated, or deleted the event.
-
Type - Displays Event.
Note: We have created a (new) Event type that clearly labels the audit log as associated with an event.
-
Patient - Displays no data as events are not associated with a patient.
-
Action - Displays as Create, Update, or Delete.
-
Details - Displays [Name of group or recurring event] for provider [provider's name], [operatory] / provider group [name of provider group], [operatory] / [name of operatory group] from [event's start date and time] until [event's end date and time] was created/updated/deleted.
Example: Andy needs to create a 1-hour group event for the morning staff on January 21st, 2021 10AM. He set the title of the event as "Morning Staff Meeting" and created the event. The audit log's detail will display as "Morning Staff Meeting for provider group Morning Staff from 10:00AM until 11:00AM on 01/21/2021 was created."
Important: If the event was created without a provider, operatory group, or provider group, it's not included in the audit log.
-
Important:
-
When you create a all-day event, the audit log's details display All day event instead of from [event's start date and time] until [event's end date and time].
Example: Orientation for provider Jane Doe, Operatory ACC-315 all day event on 10/05/2020 was created.
-
When you create a weekly event, the audit log's details display as [Name of group or recurring event] for provider [provider's name], [operatory] / provider group [name of provider group], [operatory] / [name of operatory group] from [event's start time] until [event's end time] recurring weekly from [event's start date] to [event's end date] every [count] week on [days of the week] was created/updated/deleted.
Example: You create a weekly meeting for Johnny on Friday every 2 weeks at operatory 2203 for an hour at 2PM, starting from October 1st, 2020 to October 1st, 2021. The audit log's details would display as Weekly Individual Meeting for provider Johnny, operatory 2203 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM recurring weekly from 10/01/2020 to 10/01/2021 every 2 week(s) on Friday was created.
-
When you create a monthly event, the audit log's details display as [Name of group or recurring event] for provider [provider's name], [operatory] / provider group [name of provider group], [operatory] / [name of operatory group] from [event's start time] until [event's end time] recurring monthly from [event's start date] to [event's end date] every [count] month on [day(s) of the week] on the [1st/2nd/3rd/4th/last] [day of the week] was created/updated/deleted.
Example: You create a monthly meeting for the faculty providers on Friday every last week of the month for an hour at 2PM, starting from October 1st, 2020 to October 1st, 2021. The audit log's details would display as Monthly Meeting for provider group Faculty Providers from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM recurring monthly from 10/01/2020 to 10/01/2021 every 1 month(s) on the Last Friday was created.
Improvements on the Recare Management report
We have made several changes to the Recare Management report (Home > Reports > Recare Management):
-
Users can use the (new) Provider filter to generate a list of patients based on their primary provider.

-
When you display a list of patients without recare, the Appointment column now displays with links to the patient's upcoming appointments. If a patient doesn't have an appointment, the Unscheduled link displays instead.

If you clicktap the link to an upcoming appointment, axiUm Ascend navigates you to the Calendar page with the appointment's Appointment Information panel open. If you clicktap the Unscheduled link, axiUm Ascend displays a new Appointment Information panel for today and you can create an appointment for the patient.
-
We have updated the names in the Patient Name column to display as links, which can be used to navigate to a patient's chart. This also applies to inactive patients, which displays in grey.

Improvements to the Overview page
We have updated the Overview page (Home > Location > Overview) to be more relevant to the logged in user's user role by only displaying widgets that contain the user's regularly used information:
-
The Clinical Note Tasks widget has been updated to now display the organization's unsigned clinical notes, and the following changes have been made to the columns:
-
Unsigned - Total number of the organization's clinical notes that are set as ready to sign.
-
Not Entered - Total number of patients that completed their procedures at the organization but doesn't have the clinical note for the completed procedure in the system yet.
-
In Progress - Total number of the organization's clinical notes that are set as not ready to sign.
There is also a (new)
icon on the upper right corner of the widget. When clickedtapped, a tooltip displays informing users to switch to the Provider Overview page to review your clinical notes.
Also, we have removed the ability to navigate to the Clinical Note Tasks page by selecting the widget. Instead, you can clicktap the Unsigned Clinical Notes widget on the Provider Overview page to navigate to the Clinical Note Tasks page.
Important: Previously, the widget only displayed if you were a provider. Now, the widget displays regardless of your provider status.
-
-
As the Assigned Patients widget is meant for providers, it has been relocated to the Provider Overview page. It no longer displays on the Overview page.
Improvements on the Provider Dashboard
There are several changes to the Provider Overview page (Home > Location > Overview):
-
The Assigned Patients widget from the Overview has been relocated to the Provider Overview page.

It behaves the way it did on the Overview page, except when you select a patient, axiUm Ascend displays the patient's chart instead of their overview page. Also, when you clicktap the header, axiUm Ascend displays the Recare Management page. (Home > Reports > Recare Management).
-
As the Unapproved Items widget only displays approval requests from the past 7 days, student providers can now select the widget to display the Pending Approvals page to view older data.
Note: When navigated to the Pending Approvals page, by default the Date/Time filter is set to Last 7 Days and the Provider filter is set to the logged in student provider.
Improvements to the Treatment Planner
Several changes have been made to the Treatment Planner (Patient > Clinical > Treatment Planner):
-
The History window of a treatment plan approved by a faculty provider has been updated to display more information:
-
It now records any changes that was made after the treatment plan was approved by faculty or is moved to Pending Patient Consent status. Any added or removed codes are now recorded as [Code] on [treatment area tooth, surface] was added/deleted.
If the code is moved out of the case, it is now recorded as [Code] on [treatment area tooth, surface] was removed from [case name]
Any edited codes are recorded as [Code] on [treatment area tooth, surface] updated.
-
When approved by faculty before patient consent, the action is recorded as Approved by [username of faculty provider].
-
If I don't require approval for treatment plans and I update a treatment plan's status to Pending Patient Consent, the action is recorded as Approved by [my username].
Note: These data also display on the audit log when a previously approved treatment plan is modified and requires new approval.
-
-
The Delete consented treatment plan case user role permission has been renamed to Delete approved treatment plan case. Now, users need the Delete approved treatment plan case user role permission set if they want the ability to delete a treatment plan that was approved or moved to Pending Patient Consent status.
-
When you attempt to delete a procedure from an approved treatment plan that only has one procedure, a (new) warning message displays that you need to delete the treatment plan to delete the procedure.
Inconsistent validation of NPI at two locations of axiUm Ascend
Issue: When users create or edit a user on the User Accounts page by setting them as a provider and enter an invalid NPI #, the error icon does not display on the NPI field. However, the error icon displays when you enter the same NPI # on the My Account page.
Solution: Fixed so the validation of NPI on the User Accounts and the My Accounts page work consistently.
