Important: Enhancements from this release will be available on PROD on February 24th, 2023.
Several new feature enhancements are included in the product update released in late February 2023. The major enhancements in this release are the following:
-
New information icon when a procedure isn't compatible with an exception
-
New sorting ability on the Day Sheet report's Description column
-
New operatories automatically added to event scheduled for all operatories
-
Error notification message now below the Patient Search field
New filters on the Clinical Note Tasks report
We've added two (new) filters on the Clinical Note Tasks report (Home > Reports > Clinical Note Tasks): the Locations and the Providers filters.

Note: By default, the Locations filter is set to the location you're currently logged into and the Providers filter is set to All Providers.
To set the Locations filter to different location(s), clicktap the filter and select the desired location(s)' check box(es).

Note: The Locations filter only display locations you have access to.
To select all location, select the check box at the bottom. When ready, clicktap Apply Selected to apply the new selection.
To set the Providers filter to specific provider(s), clicktap the filter and select the desired provider(s). If you want to remove a provider from the filter, clicktap the provider's X icon.
Improvements to user groups
Several improvements have been made to the User Groups page (Settings > Location > User Groups):
-
User Groups page now includes users' specialty.

The Full List has a (new) Specialty column that displays the group members' specialty. If a group member doesn't have a specialty because they're not a provider, they display as Non-provider in the column in red.
The (new) User Specialty field is a feature that restricts the Add User search field to only display providers that have the set specialty. The field is currently under development and serves no purpose. The functionality of the field will be added in the later release.
-
The Status column now displays the Inactive status in red.
New information icon when a procedure isn't compatible with an exception
Previously, when users add procedure(s) to a new exception, incompatible procedures were disabled on the New Exceptions for Procedures in [name of insurance plan] window. These procedures were disabled to prevent you from accidentally adding it to the new exception. Now, these procedures display with a (new)
icon. When clickedtapped, an Information tooltip displays with an explanation on why you can't select the procedure.

New sorting ability on the Day Sheet report's Description column
Users can now sort the Location Details section of the Day Sheet report (Home > Reports > Day Sheet) by Description.

This will help you visualize the data better or to group payments by payment types on the print version of the report.
Note: When you run the report within a date range and then sort the data by description, the data will be ordered by Description and then by Transaction Date.
Claims now display with the SIM label
Throughout Ascend Academic, unsent, sent, and outstanding claims associated with a simulation (sim) patient now displays with a SIM label.

This allows users to train other users on claims by using a dummy patient, not a real patient.
New report filter that excludes SIM patient data in reports
In the previous release, we introduced a new ability to exclude simulation (sim) patient data from 2 reports. We've updated it to include 4 more reports:
The Deposit Slip report (Home > Reports > Deposit Slip Report)
The Deposit Slip report now comes with a (new) Exclude simulation patients check box, located at the bottom of the filters.

If selected, the report only excludes payments that are fully applied to sim patients. It doesn't exclude payments that are attributed to both real and sim patients. Also, to help differentiate between sim and regular patients, the sim patients will now display with the SIM label.
The Payment Analysis report (Home > Reports > Payment Analysis)
The report now comes with a (new) Exclude simulation patients check box, located under Locations.

The filter applies to all sections of the report.
The Recare Management report (Home > Reports > Ongoing Patient Care)
The report now comes with a (new) Exclude simulation patients check box, located under Locations.

The filter applies to all sections of the report.
Also, to help differentiate between sim and regular patients, the sim patients will now display with the SIM label.
The Aged Receivables report (Home > Reports > Aged Receivables Report)
The report now comes with a (new) Exclude simulation patients check box, located under Locations.

To help differentiate between sim and regular patients, the sim patients will now display with the SIM label.
New Cashbox column in the Deposit Slip report
The Deposit Slip report now comes with a (new) Cashbox column. The column displays on both preview and print versions of the report.
New operatories automatically added to event scheduled for all operatories
When users create a new operatory (Settings > Location > Operatories), it'll automatically be included in an event that is scheduled to take place in all operatories. You won't need to manually add these events to a new operatory anymore.
Error notification message now below the Patient Search field
Previously, when an error occurred, the generated error notification message displayed at the top. It covered the Patient Search field, blocking users from using it until they closed the message. We've updated the system so the error message now displays below the search engine.
