You can link an unlocked clinical note to a patient's existing appointment.
Once linked, the clinical note's Attending Provider field automatically updates to the linked appointment's attending provider. If the appointment does not have a set attending provider, the field displays [None].
Note: You can also link a new clinical note to an appointment.

How to get there

Use the Patient Search field to access a patient's record.
Notes:

If the last patient record you accessed since you last logged on is the correct patient's record, you do not need to re-enter the patient's name in the Patient Search field.

You can include inactive patients in the search results by setting the Include inactive patients toggle switch to On.
Important: If the Access Confidential Patient window displays after selecting the patient from the search results, it means the patient is a confidential patient and you don't have the security rights to access their record. To continue, a user with the security rights must enter their credentials into the window. Once given access, you have access to the patient's information until your session expires.

From the Patient menu, under Clinical, clicktap Progress Notes.

How to get to there

From the Home menu, under Location, clicktap Overview.
The Provider Overview page displays.
Important: If the Overview page displays instead, set the Provider Overview toggle switch to Yes.
Important: If you are not a provider, the toggle switch does not display.

Select the Unsigned Clinical Notes widget.
The Clinical Note Tasks page displays.

Complete one of the following:

Open the Progress Notes tab of a patient's clinical record to view the patient's procedure history and select a clinical note.

Open the Chart, Progress Notes, Quick Exam, Treatment Planner, or Perio tab of a patient's clinical record, and from the Clinical Notes drop-down list, select a clinical note.

On the Clinical Note Tasks page, select a clinical note, and then clicktap Edit Note.
Note: Only your notes display when working from the Clinical Note Tasks page.
The Clinical Note window displays.

ClickTap the Date field and set to the appointment's date.

ClickTap the Appointment field and select the appointment's time from the drop-down list.
Note: If there is no existing appointment associated with the set date, the list only displays -.

ClickTap Save.
Notes:

If an appointment's attending provider is the same provider as the clinical note's provider, the Attending Provider field displays [None].

If you update the attending provider of a linked appointment and the clinical note hasn't been signed, the clinical note automatically updates to display the new attending provider. However, if you update the attending provider on the clinical note, the appointment does not update to display the new attending provider.
