You can turn an appointment communication (an email message and a text message that get sent to patients automatically regarding their appointments) on or off as needed.
To inactivate or reactivate an appointment communication
How to get there

From the Settings menu, under Patient Care, select Patient Communications.
Note: If the correct location is not already selected, use the Location menu to select it.
The Patient Communications page displays.

On a location's Patient Communications page > Appointment tab, select a communication.
Samples of the corresponding email message and text message display, and the options for the communication become available.
Appt scheduled
Appt confirmed
Appt start (without ability to confirm)
Appt start (with ability to confirm)
Appt broken
Appt no show
Appt completed

Change the communication's Active setting:

On - The corresponding email or text message will be sent to patients as applicable.
Notes:

When you turn on a communication, a message displays and explains that written consent from patients is not required for you to send them text messages. After you read the message, click Close.

If a patient requests not to receive automated text messages, you can turn them off for that patient, or the patient can text STOP to 45827 from the mobile phone that is designated as the phone that receives automated text messages for the patient.

Off - The corresponding email or text message will not be sent to any patients.
